Creativity in Class
Once we hear the word "creative writing" our mind might get intrigue and our inner self will get interested to discover the precious activities and lessons under that subject. Creative writing will give a mark on the heart and mind of an individual who will study it. And once we finish studying this, we can say that we are truly a HUMSS student with creativity in a heart and learnings in a mind.
Creative Writing offers a lot of unforgettable experiences that we can keep and share to other people. I remember, on my first day of class our teacher told us to introduce ourselves with a twist. Since we are in a creative writing class, of course we need to become creative that's why she told the whole class to state our name and describe our self using the first letter of our name. Example, "My name is Lance and I describe my self as Loving Lance." trivia: that is exactly what I said.
One of my most memorable experiences in creative writing is when the class divided into two groups, the English and Tagalog group. all the students that's fluent in speaking English will collaborate together to make a story out of the picture given by our teacher using English language. The second group will do the same but using our native language.
The photo was taken last August 31, 2022 when me and my groupmates do our tasks, and that is to take a picture inside the school and make a short story out of it. I remember that our story was all about a grade 12 student who's walking around the school and capturing some precious typical scenario in the campus. here are the 11 photos that we captured:
Connected to a story telling, we are also asked to make a short story individually. The genre that we will use will be on our choice. But sometimes our teacher will provided it. Here are my example of a short story in a concept of mystery.
That is only a short story with dialogues and monologues. But, we are not only doing short stories, we experienced to do some journal and poems. That's why, as for our last project for creative writing first grading, we are asked to create a book. The whole work was by group but the content was individual. all of us must need to send our entries. three poem, one short story, and three journals. Here are our book, entitled "Prelude to Neverland"
The life of a creative writing student was not only about writing, we are also doing some tableau or portrayal representation where we are practicing the stage direction and position. on this activity, we understand that blockings is essential in stage play and drama. Also, the actors and actresses must not blocked the other actors in the stage.
This is our tableau, we are portraying karakol and our stage is only the floor inside the classroom. However, we are able to manage it because our teacher told us that every place can become a setting in a play. And that detail still remains in my mind.
Of course the life of a HUMSS student was not complete without doing a one-act play or stage play. And yes we experienced that, and I'm one of the main character in our story. For me, it is the most unforgettable experience in my time upon studying creative writing.
These are some of our pictures on our one-act play. as you noticed the characters are limited so that the audience will be focused on the dialogues, actors and they will better understand the story of the play.
After our play, we take photos together with all the classmates and teachers. we feel delighted and grateful because we survived our last performance task. And those are my memorable experiences and times in creative writing. I hope you got inspired and get some lessons on my blog.
